New York, New York!

The 1st day we got there and didn't really do much, that night was New Year's Eve so we got to go to Times Square but we couldn't see anything. We couldn't get close enough. We took pictures afterwards too though.
The next day most stores weren't open so all we did was go to Rockefeller Center and Saks 5th Avenue (the REAL one). That night was SOOOOOOO COOOLLLL!!!!!!!!!! We went to the Chicago City Limits Comedy and Improv Show. It was sooooooooooo funny!!! They were SOOOOO good at improv. The 1st thing they did was this one guy came out and asked for any profession. Someone said Chimney Sweep. They each came out and sang the blues about being a chimney sweep. And they RHYMED!!! That fast!!! How they thought of rhyming songs about CHIMNEY SWEEPS that fast I'll never know. OK, then they did the Year in Review. It was all singing. They did Saddam Hussein to "Wannabe"!!!! "If you wanna see my weapons" or something. It was so funny, the men were in little crop tops and stuff. They also did Chumbawamba about Robert Downey Jr. ("He gets locked up, but he gets out again, you're never gonna keep him in..." "...Oh, Downey boy, Downey boy, Downey boy..." "...He takes a whiskey drink, he takes a vodka drink, he shoots up again, and takes a snort again." or something to that effect)...anyway, it was funny. Then they did more improv. They asked for any country, and I said "Sri Lanka" and they picked it!!! They did a whole scene about Sri Lanka!!! Aw yeah. It was rad. Then they did some more stuff, it was funny...ok enough about that.
The next day was the best of all. I knew it would be. It was the shopping day!!!!! First we were going on the subway to go to Chinatown. My token dropped and got stuck in this little slot. By the time I got it out again and got through, the subway was leaving!!! I saw my family in the subway going away! It was scary. I just sat there for about 10 minutes until they came back. I must have looked New Yorkian or something because someone asked me if they should take the N or the R train. How the heck should I know?!? Oh well. We went to Chinatown and I got Chinese silk pajamas. They were expensive ($47.50) but way cool. I also got hairsticks. Then we ate in Little Italy. Afterwards my mom took me, my cousins, and my brother shopping in SoHo. Then he got bored and split off. We went to Wet Seal. Now, I know that we have a Wet Seal here and all, but in New York everything's bigger and better. Theirs was about 4 or 5 times the size of ours. They even had guys' clothes! There, I got three baby tees, jeans and a Lucy lunchbox!!!!!! Then we went to a couple other places where I didn't get anything. Finally, we went to this place called "Center for the Dull." They had unused vintage clothes. They had a lot of cool stuff, but all I got was a long-sleeved striped button shirt. That night, we went to Side Show. The saddest part? We were watching the second-to-last performance!!!! Yeah, it closed Saturday. So the bows (a standing ovation for about 10 minutes) were sad. They all stood there as one of the stars talked to us. She was like, "As most of you know, tomorrow is the last performance." Everyone boooooed. She said a couple more things that made everyone sad.
The next day we went to the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, which was rad. It starred the Rockettes. Then we went to Urban Outfitters, where I found a way-cool skirt. I was going to get it but I had left my money in the hotel room. My dad said he'd buy it for me, but first he looked at it. He wouldn't let me get it!!! He said, "This isn't appropriate for school. You can't get a black-lace miniskirt." Um, what? It was a blue knee-length skirt with black lace at the bottom. It's in all the magazines and it's in Delia's or some other catalog. Please. So of course, in my regular manner, I refused to talk to him for the rest of the day. At the end of the day he said I had lost my computer for a week. Great. Splendid.
Yesterday was great fun. I woke up OK, but started feeling sick about an hour later. Turns out I had some virus or stomach flu or something. Our flight, which was supposed to leave at 3:00, didn't actually leave until 6:00. So from 1:30 to 6:00 I lay on the airport floor sleeping. Every so often I'd wake up, drink a lot of water, throw up, drink a lot of water, then go back to sleep. Wonderful! We didn't actually get in until about 1:00, I didn't get to bed until 1:30. Great, huh?
